As smart and clever as Kyndall seems to be: it obviously it does not apply to her understanding for performing her domestic tasks properly. Fetching the cane, he tells the poor girl that she will have to write another letter - telling the truth this time, meanwhile, he will keep on caning her until the letter is finished to his satisfaction.
